This week we welcomed three new members to the chorus! It’s always an exciting time to make new friends and continue to fill the risers! Welcome Heidi, Kristen, and Sara! |
PHC announces this year’s chorus STAR! Congrats to Paula Reece! Coordinating our performance with The Arlingtones was a great kickoff to hopefully more collaborations between our ensembles. Then she dove in and got our new website up and running! The hours she invested working with the host company, then offering assistance to each member so we could have full access is a true representation of a chorus STAR! Congrats Paula! |
Last night we said goodbye, good luck, and see you soon to Cecelia. After so many years of traveling up and down the highway from Fredericksburg she’s hanging up her sequins and chorus shoes! We will miss her terribly. We’re so glad we had this time together |
Let’s hear it for new members! Potomac Harmony welcomed two new members tonight! Welcome to the risers Melanie and Ashley! |
Congratulations to REgion 14's new quartet champions UP ALL NIGHT Quartet and particularly our director, Allison Lynskey, who sings Lead! We're so proud of all of them! |
Potomac Harmony Chorus would like to introduce our new director, Allison Lynskey! Allison has ten years of barbershop experience singing in both a chorus and quartet, but is no stranger to the performance arts. She currently teaches elementary music and chorus in the Fairfax County Public School system. Allison studied voice at Virginia Tech and was a member of the women’s chorus, Chamber Singers, Opera Workshop, and Soulstice a cappella group. She also served as the graduate director of the Virginia Tech men’s chorus. Additionally, Allison earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a focus on voice, and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech. On the chorus level, Allison has served as an Assistant Director, Bass Section Leader, provided PVI’s to members, and has served on the Management Team. Her quartet experience has been filled with accomplishments! Allison’s first quartet, Don’t Wait Up, earned the Ozzi Mask Novice Quartet Award in 2015. Her current quartet, Up All Night, has earned the opportunity to compete at the International level of Sweet Adelines three times, once placing 15th. The quartet has also won the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweepstakes twice and placed in the top three in the National Harmony Sweepstakes twice. Allison has a life-long love of learning and looks forward to growing as a director and bringing that enthusiasm and passion to Potomac Harmony. Potomac Harmony looks forward to this new chapter in our long history and is eager to get started! If you’re ever in the Northern Virginia area and looking for something to do on a Wednesday evening, stop by and meet us and our new director! |
PHC closed out the holiday season yesterday with a performance for the residents of The View (formerly The Hermitage), where we rehearse. Most of us were able to go to Clyde's afterward for a bit of lunch and time with friends. No rehearsals the next two weeks - we'll be back with a party on January 4th, then regular rehearsals resume January 11th. We hope you enjoy the holiday break! |
